Observation: Total alkalinity was noted at 140 PPM.

Observation: Pool records are not maintained as per the BC Pool Regulation.
Corrective Action(s): Start measuring and recording pool chemistry daily for pH, free available chlorine and combined chlorine; Weekly for alkalinity and cyanuric acid.

Comments

Routine inspection conducted for pool seasonal opening for May long weekend.

Pool chemistry:
Water temperature 14.7C (required to be at or less than 37C).
Cyanuric acid < 30 PPM (ideal range between 30 - 50 PPM).

General:
Skimmer baskets were noted clean. Floating weirs were available and functioning.
Water clarity good, main drain visible.
Handrails for ladders secured (note: Handrails for the ladder closest to the pool rules were slightly loose, please tighten the screws on this handrails).
Pool depth markings clearly visible.
Pool rules posted.
Safety equipment available.
Washroom/ change room facilities were sanitary at the time of inspection. Hot water in the sanitary facilities were less than 49C.
Mechanical and chemical rooms were organized.
Flow meter functioning properly.
Sand filter backwash once or twice a week.
Pool test kit available and in good condition.

At this time the pool is not granted approval to open for the season. Correct all the aforementioned violations and a re-inspection will be conducted tomorrow.
