Introduction

Routine Inspection Report

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (C.C.A.L.A.), the Residential Care Regulation (R.C.R.), and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (D.L.S.P.). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer's observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:

- Policies and Procedures
- Care and Supervision
- Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
- Medication
- Nutrition and Food Services
- Program
- Records and Reporting

As part of this routine inspection a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes contraventions identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year historical review of the facility's compliance and operation.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31290 - RCR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must ensure that all rooms and common areas are (b) maintained in a good state of repair.
Observation: During inspection of the physical facility, the following was noted:
- On the east facing patio, wooden tabletops were noted to have paint chipping off in multiple places, and in one section nails were exposed. It appears one table top is no longer secured to a post.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all rooms and common areas are maintained in a good state of repair.
Date to be Corrected: Please provide a response to Licensing by April 15, 2022 as to how the noted observation will be addressed.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 31750 - RCR s.35(1)(b) - A licensee must provide the following appropriately furnished and equipped areas: (b) safe and secure locations for medications and the records of persons in care.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During an inpsection of a person in care's bedroom, an unsecured medication was found in the bathroom.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all medications are stored in a safe and secure location.
Date to be Corrected: Please provide a response as to how the noted contravention will be addressed by April 15, 2022.
