Introduction

Today's inspection is a follow up to routine inspection #AROE-BUTS4N dated October 28, 2020.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 30240 - RCR s.61 - A licensee must regularly monitor the physical environment of the community care facility, and the care and services provided by it, to ensure that the requirements of the Act and this regulation are being met.
Observation: Review of various systems on site during the follow up inspection determined that the facility lacks a system to monitor the physical facility, as well as food and nutrition services.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure a system to regularly monitor the facility.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 35040 - RCR s.63(1) - A licensee must ensure that all food is safely prepared, stored, served and handled.
Observation: REPEAT CONTRAVENTION - Review of the fridges and freezers at the facility, determined that food labelling was not consistently implemented, this includes an open food item in the freezer. As well, there were two items that were observed as expired.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all food is safely stored.

Comments

All items from the routine report have been addressed or have a current plan to be addressed as outlined in the facility response received November 17, 2020.

Licensing would like to acknowledge the following:
- Policy for complaints and concerns/ emergency restraints requires additional revision, which will be completed by March 15, 2021.
- Although staff have reviewed pieces around food safety, handling and preparation, facility leadership will ensure an online food safety course is also completed by kitchen by March 15, 2021. Confirmation of training will be retained on site.
- Recommendations have been made for ensuring a consistent process for food labelling and storage.
- The facility is required to submit an exemption to licensing for the removable of a bathroom door.
