Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Residential Care Regulations (RCR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP). Evidence for this report was based on the licensing officer’s observations, review of the facility records, and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:
Licensing
Physical Facility

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Discussion with facility manager concerning the large number of items being stored on the lower level, including mattresses, wheelchairs and commode chairs. These items are being stored for this home as well as for other CSCL homes. As indicated by the manager, the unused mattresses will be discarded and the remainder of the items will be inventoried and distributed to other homes as needed. It was noted that this level is no longer accessed by persons in care due to diminished interest for some and a decrease in mobility for others.

Copies of the inspection report and the Risk Assessment Tool were reviewed, discussed, and provided to the Manager. Please contact your Licensing Officer if you have any questions or concerns regarding this report.
