This is a follow-up inspection completed with the General Manager, Director of Wellness and Resident Services Coordinator to the routine inspection report #CRAU-C6QMWE (completed on September 7, 2021).
Staffing:
An internal audit of the personnel files has been completed and character references, performance appraisals, and immunizations are all up to date for all the staff. Regarding copies of educational credentials, this is received for new hired staff. For long term staff, for example for Care Aides, their BC Care Aide Registry in good standing is kept on file and staff are bringing in copies of their educational credentials. Please refer to the following section of the Residential Care Regulation:
Character and skill requirements
37 (1)A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first obtained all of the following:
(d)copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills
Nutrition and Food Services:
- The Dietitian has completed in-services for the staff who prepare and deliver the food. The Dietitian was in the process of putting together a formal education calendar for the year 2022 (includes assisted eating techniques). This was received via e-mail on March 15, 2022.
- Nutrition audits are documented and a schedule as to when they are to be completed appears to be followed.
- Satisfaction with the food surveys, the Dietitian has formulated an action plan to address areas where improvement is required.
- The Dietitian showed the Licensing Officer other systems related to nutrition and food services that have been updated and/or implemented (e.g., assessments schedule).
- Weight documentation is kept up to date and if there is fluctuations of 2 lbs. (pounds), then the person(s) in care are re-weighed. |
