Report of Findings
Community Care Facilities Licensing received a complaint on October 30, 2023 regarding medication.

All areas of the complaint were fully investigated. Licensing gathered and reviewed facility records.

Licensing confirmed the following:
- Staff failed to identity a person in care before administering a dosage of medication, resulting in a medication error.
- Staff administered a person in care a vaccine prior to obtaining consent from a representative.

A contravention to section 68(4) of the Residential Care Regulation (Medication safety and advisory committee) was determiend.

Observation: The staff failed to confirm the identity of the person in care (PIC) before administering medication and failed to verify the consent to vaccinate prior to vaccinating the PIC.
