Licensing received a complaint on June 28, 2021, regarding staffing and care & supervision. The complainant provided the following concerns: - the person in care (PIC) suffered a heat related illness due to lack of supervision - staff failed to provide appropriate care, causing pain to the PIC - the PIC had unexplained injuries - staff failed to use and store PIC's devices proprerly - there was a delay in contacting emergency health services All areas of the complaint were fully investigated. Evidence was collected from interviews and records. Licensing determined the following contraventions: - Residential Care Regulation (RCR) s 19(1)(b) provide a signalling device to identify location of PIC to employees - RCR s. 81(4)(b)(i) care plan reviewed and modified if substantial change in circumstances - RCR s. 85(1)(a) policies and procedures to guide staff in matters related to care & supervision - RCR s. 82 care & supervision is consistent with the terms and conditions of the care plan |
