Report of Findings
Licensing received a complaint on September 29th, 2020, regarding care & supervision, nutrition & food services, and records & reporting.

The complainant provided the following concerns:
- they were not notified of person in care's (PIC) injury
- inadequate care and supervision
- inadequate nutrition services
- they were unaware of PIC's worsening condition and illness

All areas of the complaint were fully investigated. Evidence was collected from interviews and records.
Licensing determined the following contraventions:
- Residential Care Regulation (RCR) sec. 76(1) representitive immediately notified of illness or injury
- RCR sec. 81(4)(b)(i) care plan reviewed and modified if substantial change in circumstances

34750 - RCR s.81(4)(b)(i)A licensee must ensure that (b) each care plan is reviewed and, if necessary, modified (i) if there is a substantial change in the circumstances of the person in care.
Observation: The PIC was exhibiting aggressive and resistive behaviours. The care plan did not provide direction to staff on how to respond to this behaviours.
Corrective action: Corrective action required.
39060 - RCR s.76(1)If a person in care becomes ill or is injured while under the care or supervision of a licensee, the licensee must immediately notify the parent or representative, or contact person, of the person in care.
Observation: The PIC sustained bruising to the back of both hands, and the PIC's representative was not notified of this injury at the time it was identified.
Corrective action: Corrective action required.
