Introduction

On October 13, 2016, CCFL attended the facility and conducted an unscheduled inspection of the physical premise as part of a routine inspection. Although the Manager was on site at the time, it was agreed a staff member would accompany CCFL during the inspection as the Manager had a previous commitment. It was agreed CCFL would return on October 22, 2016 to complete the remainder of the inspection.

Observed Violations
PROGRAM: 38010 - RCR s.55(1)(a)(i) - A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a type of care described as Hospice, must (a) provide persons in care, without charge, with an ongoing planned program of physical, social and recreational activities (i) suitable to the needs of the persons in care.
Observation: In review of the activity calendar, the activities offered to residents appears to be limited. In addition some activities that are listed are resident specific and there does not appear to be activities for other residents. In discussion with the Manager, he advised that some activities are "day by day" and explained the residents are asked what they would like to do.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure there is a system in place that demonstrates the outings, activities, etc., that are available and offered to residents.
