Inspection Information
Facility Type2-14 (DWS)
Inspection typeRoutine
Inspection dateMay 31, 2019
Follow-up RequiredNo
Violations: No violations were found during the inspection.
Well cap is secure, casing stick-up is over 6 feet. Well is close to river/creek area - erosion of stream banks over time has brought Koksilah River closer to the well; stream bank erosion may compromise current well water supply. Consider planning for alternative water supply. Water treatment house is secure although evidence of previous rodent activity was noted. Continue to seal up any potential entry ways and clean and sanitize areas affected by rodent droppings using proper PPE (info provided). Only equipment related to waterworks is maintained in building. Bacteriological water samples submitted 2x/month and recent results have been satisfactory. Last water chemical analysis conducted in 2016. Health Canada recently set maximum allowable concentrations (MAC) of 0.12mg/L manganese in drinking water and an aesthetic objective (AO) of 0.02 mg/L. 2016 results indicated 0.100mg/L manganese in the source water, i.e. below the MAC but historical chemical analyses have exceeded the current MAC value. Monitor manganese levels - EHO to discuss further with operator. Emergency Response Plan has been updated and copies are posted at the info booth and outside of water treatment house. Annual report for 2018 has been submitted. Camp has instructed guiders to bring in their own potable water supply; camp has voluntarily posted non-potable water signs by taps until water treatment has been upgraded. GARP assessment to be conducted to determine treatment/disinfection requirements.
