Report of Findings
On September 15, 2022, Licensing received a complaint alleging concerns with care and supervision and food services.

The complainant provided the following details:
- Inadequate nutrition and food service practices
- No supervision is provided during meal times
- A person in care has gone one month without a bath

All areas of the complaint were thoroughly investigated. Evidence was received and reviewed from interviews, correspondence with the facility, and inspection.

The following contraventions were determined:
Residential Care Regulation - Section RCR 44(1)(a) - Food service employees

32250 - RCR s.44(1)(a)A licensee must ensure that employees responsible for the preparation and delivery of food (a) have the experience, competence and training necessary to ensure that food is safely prepared and handled and meets the nutrition needs of the persons in care.
Observation: Two staff assisting persons in care (PICs) to eat during meals had not received on-going training with regards to assisted eating techniques to assist PICs to eat during mealtime. In addition, two support services staff did not have the necessary training to prepare and cook textured modified meals for PICs.
Corrective action: Corrective action required.

- Licensee has addressed some contraventions. Corrective action plan required to be submitted.
Action Required by Licensing Officer or Medical Health Officer
- Licensee has provided training for two staff with respect to assisted eating techniques on September 28, 2022. Licensing is requesting additional information on how they will continue to meet the requirement by October 31, 2022.
