Report of Findings
Community Care Facilities Licensing (CCFL) received a complaint on September 8, 2023 regarding Care & Supervision, Records & Reporting, and Staffing.

Evidence was obtained and reviewed through on-site inspections, and a review of documentation.

Licensing confirmed the following:
- Staff had not received training in responding to the emergency of a missing person in care.
- While a person in care (PIC) was at risk for wandering, their care plan did not include a plan to locate them if they left the facility without notification.

Therefore, the operator failed to meet the requirements of section 51(3), Emergency preparations, and section 81(3), Care plan needed if more than 30 day stay, of the Residential Care Regulation.

Observation: Facility leadership confirmed staff had not received training in responding to the emergency of a missing person in care.
Corrective action: Please ensure staff are trained in the implementation of emergency procedures.

34710 - RCR s.81(3)(f)(ii)A care plan must include all of the following: (f) if a person in care has been determined to be at risk of leaving a community care facility without notification of an employee, a plan (ii) if the person in care leaves without notification, to locate the person in care.
Observation: While a person in care (PIC) was at risk for wandering, their care plan did not include a plan to locate them if they left the facility without notification.
Corrective action: Please ensure a PICs care plan includes a plan to locate them should they leave the facility without notifying staff.
